Workforce-Operations is currently seeking a skilled Contract Manual Machinist to join our team. Our client specializes in machining and millwright services focusing on the repair of heavy industrial rotating equipment. This individual will be responsible for operating various conventional machine tools to create or modify parts and products according to precise specifications. The ideal candidate is an experienced Journeyman machinist with a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of mechanical and machining processes.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and drawings to understand project specifications.
- Set up and operate various manual machine tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders, drills, various hand tools, etc.
- Working knowledge of most machine shop equipment and machine shop math.
- Use precision measuring instruments; such as dial and vernier calipers; inside, outside, and depth micrometers; height gages, parallel blocks, go/no-go gages, thread gages etc.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures reporting all unsafe activities to Management and/or Human Resources.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Possess the utmost levels of honesty and integrity.
- Adhere to project timelines and communicate any issues or delays to management promptly.
- Must be willing to work extended hours during peak season (Spring/Fall).
- Clean-up work area daily.
